Project Description
Dandy began working with Cornish Lime in October 2022 on an already-established ecommerce site with a solid existing domain authority and a loyal, specialist customer base of heritage builders, conservators and homeowners. Rather than a from-zero build, the brief has been sustained, incremental improvement: keeping technical health strong on a large product catalogue, building topical authority through content, and steadily lifting how well that traffic converts.
Conversion optimisation has been a particular focus of the relationship, working closely with the client on landing page optimisations, transactional messaging and on-page trust signals across key product pages. That focus shows up directly in the numbers: organic conversion rate and revenue have both climbed substantially over the past 18 months, with several recent months representing the best organic revenue the channel has ever recorded.
Performance
The results
Traffic on an already-mature site holds fairly steady year to year. The real growth story here is in how much better that traffic converts, and what it's worth.
SEO audit & implementation
Keeping a large, mature site technically healthy
A specialist product catalogue this size needs constant technical upkeep rather than a one-off audit. We've run a near-weekly monitoring cadence for years, catching crawl and indexing issues before they cost rankings, alongside regular structured-data and on-page reviews.
- Weekly crawl data checks, sustained throughout the engagement
- Regular technical SEO audits run together with the client
- Ongoing product and author schema markup reviews and fixes
- Internal linking reviews and redirect clean-ups across the product catalogue
- Page title, alt text and metadata reviews across key pages
Content
Building topical authority in a specialist category
Cornish Lime's audience is specialist and well-informed, so the content programme focuses on genuine topical depth backed by continuous keyword research to find where the next opportunity sits.
- An ongoing blog programme covering traditional building materials, sand and aggregate types, and heritage building practice
- Continuous keyword research and mapping, including targeted research for low-traffic pages needing a lift
- Content and metadata updates guided by real ranking and click data, not guesswork
Conversion optimisation
Working closely with the client to convert more of the traffic already there
With traffic on a mature site holding fairly steady, the highest-leverage work has been improving how well it converts:
- Regular landing page optimisations on key product pages, including quicklime, lime putty and hessian
- Adding stronger transactional prompts and calls to action across priority pages
- Introducing social proof elements onto blog content to build trust before the click through to product
- Navigation and user-journey review and recommendations, run jointly with the client's own team
Best online marketing firm I have worked with. The Dandy team are always quick to respond to our requirements and creative in how they approach how best to get our site and products seen online. Happy to work with us through the whole customer journey, from driving traffic to our sites to ensuring that the close. Would recommend 100%.
